Research Program

I am a Biochemist by training and have expertise in the field of plancentology, obesity, diabetes and cancer. During my first post-doctoral training, I studied the chemopreventive role of Nexurutine in prostate cancer. Later I spent 5 years of my postdoctoral research on understanding the role of miRNA in placental functions, especially during pregnancy related complications including preeeclampsia, obesity and gestational diabetes. I have also expanded my work in understanding the epigenetic and chromatin modification during trophoblast differentiation which is critical for placental function. Currently I will be working on understanding the molecular basis of Mediator subunit 12 (MED-12) mutations in uterine leiomyomas.
